On Friday, February 9th, Stanford dropped its second game in a row, this time a shutout 60-0 against Cal. Played on a rainy afternoon, the wet ball and sloppy turf managed to slow both sides down.
Down 29-0 at halftime, Stanford was unable to contend with the experienced Cal side, whose persistent attack allowed them to control the game through.
Despite the loss, Stanford came away with optimism on both sides of the ball. While unable to score, Stanford's backs played and moved well, while tackling around the breakdown by forwards was greatly improved over weeks past.
The teams will face each other next on March 17th at Cal.
